The Student Government Association (SGA) of Columbus State University is the organized voice of each student that attends Columbus State University. SGA strives to protect that students rights, and to advocate on behalf of the students' welfare on the campus of Columbus State University. SGA also serves as a liason between the students, and the administrators on campus.
The objectives of the Student Government Association of Columbus State are meant to accurately represent our governing body. We aim to provide direct channels for responsible and effective participation in University governance. We also want to provide an official and representative organization to receive complaints, consider problems, and participate in making decisions affecting the university. We will support programs that may directly benefit students and the university. Student Government allows student a chance to build great leadership skills and grow valuable connections to hold in the future.
The Student Government Association is commonly referred to as the voice of the student body and deals with issues affecting all aspects of student life. Any student is welcome to participate in Student Forums and Town hall meetings to voice comments or concerns. This site will have important topics, dates, and information discussed at each forum. We hope to see every student involved in their tenure here at CSU and what better way then Student Government!!!!
Philanthropies
Project book bag
Organizations and students raise money to buy school supplies for a local class at a needy elementary school. This covers one classroom or grade level depending on the need of the children.
Spooktacular
City wide trick or treating event held on Broadway for the children of the community. This event is a partnership with uptown Columbus but CSU provides the most booths and candy. This is also funded by student organizations and individuals of the CSU community.
Christmas Angel Tree
Each year around the Christmas holidays, SGA adopts a local charitable organization and provides toys for the children in it. Examples would be Girls Inc, Boys and Girls Club, etc... This is funded by SGA and organizations.
Educator of the year
Student panel ran buy the V.P. of Scholastic Affairs receives nominations from the student body and conduct a meticulous process to pick the educator of the year for each academic year.
